This is written by one of our lovely customers who has been using AT Hemp products for the past 6 months. All products were purchased by her and this is her honest experience of the benefits she has seen while using them.
I started researching the benefits of hemp seeds about 6 months ago. I decided to buy some hemp seed oil and hemp seeds to incorporate into my diet. Over the months I have been experimenting with hemp seed oil more and more and the results have been surprising.
Hemp seeds and hemp seed oil are packed full of protein. It is a complete protein source, which means it contains all 9 essential amino acids. These include a high level of linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3), making them one of the only completely vegan sources of all the omega-3 and omega-6. Plus, if that wasn’t all, they are high in A, D, E and B group vitamins.
Little hearts are filled with natural benefits that can help reduce heart disease and inflammation in the body and improve your digestion and bowel health.
Adding hemp seeds to my diet
At the beginning of my journey, I added hemp seeds to anything and everything!
My usual breakfast is classic avocado on toast with vegemite. So I decided to sprinkle some hemp seeds on top to add a bit of texture. I was pleasantly surprised at how well they complimented the creaminess of the avocado and the saltiness of the vegemite, adding a little more of a nutty flavour and a gentle crunch.
Since then, I started adding hemp seeds to almost everything, even desserts! Rather than topping my yoghurt or even ice cream with nuts, I use hemp seeds and it actually tastes delicious! Nutty and crunchy and makes me feel better about a cheeky bowl of my favourite ice cream. With yoghurt, it makes a healthy afternoon snack. The protein boost gives me a lift in energy, without the crash of a carbohydrate-heavy snack.
At dinner time I sprinkle hemp seeds on my salads, or vegetables before I roast them. I add them to my rice or quinoa before I cook it, so they are a little soft. Even when cooked, hemp seeds still retain all the same benefits as their raw form. So even adding a spoonful or two has amazing health benefits.
Hemp seed oil is now my favourite pantry and beauty staple
Hemp seed oil is by far my favourite thing in my pantry and my beauty cupboard. Yep, you heard that right! I now use hemp seed oil as part of my daily beauty routine, and I haven’t looked back.
It’s important to note that hemp seed oil is best used as is. It has a very low smoke point, so heating it will reduce the nutritional value of the oil.
I originally purchased the hemp seed oil to add to salads and drizzle over things I would normally use olive oil for. However, one day I was reading about the benefits of taking 1-2 tablespoons of oil a day. So, I decided to give it a try!
I started out with 1 tablespoon in the morning and after a week increased it to 2 tablespoons. It did take some getting used to swallowing oil before my daily coffee. Not so much the flavour, as hemp seed oil has a mild nutty flavour to it, it was more the oily texture. But it didn’t take long before it became part of my routine, and I don’t even think about it anymore.
After a couple of weeks of taking hemp seed oil orally. I decided to start using it topically on my skin. Because it is a thick oil, I only use it at night about an hour before bed. That allows it time to sink into my skin and not my sheets!
I spend a lot of time on the beach, I am very sun-smart and use sunscreen constantly. But my skin ends up very dry from the wind, sand and saltwater. I find I am constantly applying moisturiser to my face, arms, legs and feet and still ending up with dry, cracked skin.
How I use hemp seed oil on my skin
At night I remove any makeup, shower and cleanse my face. I then use hemp seed oil as a serum on my face and a moisturiser all over my body. I am quite liberal with my application, so I do end up oily for a little while until it all soaks into my skin. In the morning I cleanse my face and apply sunscreen and a light moisturiser. The rest of my body doesn’t need any additional moisturiser as it feels soft and smooth from the hemp seed oil.
Over the past few months of using hemp seed oil as a moisturiser and taking it orally. I have noticed a huge change in my skin texture and my hair health. My skin feels plumper and smoother. I have almost no breakouts and I have even noticed the small chicken pox scars on my arms have noticeably started to fade. I have even had people ask me what I am doing because they say I look healthier and younger than my 41 years!
Not only does my skin and hair feel and look better, but I also feel better within myself. I have had a small amount of weight loss and less bloating throughout the day. My digestion has significantly improved, and I have more energy.
I am truly amazed at the effects hemp seeds and hemp seed oil have on my skin, hair and overall health. If you are thinking about trying it for yourself, I highly recommend it.
